Our Story
U Star Novels was founded in 2006 when Katie Olver was searching for a gift that didn't exist. On the look-out for a romance novel for her sister-in-law she didn't know which ones she had read or how raunchy she liked them. Katie's eureka moment came when she thought wouldn't it be great if I could just make her the star of her own romance novel. Having search the web the only ones she could find in the UK were for children.
After doing some research, she discovered that while personalised books for adults existed in the US, but nobody had thought to bring the idea across the pond. She and her business partner, Jon Reader set to work turning the idea into a business, and set up U Star Novels, to produce a series of personalised romance novels where the reader is the protagonist.
With an ever expanding range of titles, shaped entirely by customer feedback U Star Novels are enjoyed by customers in over 100 different countries. Katie successfully pitched her business in the hit BBC2 Show
Dragons Den
with the prime airtime exposure helping to further underpin the success of the business. Named Cosmopolitan's sexist gift, U Star Novels' personalised romance novels are especially enjoyed by couples for Valentine's Day, birthdays and anniversaries.
Further diversifying their product line of personalised novels, in 2009 U Star Novels began publishing fully customised versions of classic novels. Personalised children's classics like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Anne of Green Gables and The Wizard of Oz have been hugely popular together with Personalised classics for adults like Pride & Prejudice, The Scarlett Pimpernel, Romeo & Juliet, Great Expectations and The Importance of Being Earnest.
U Star Novels now publish the world's largest range of personalised Classic Novels.
In 2012 a full range of personalised eBooks compatible with a vast array of devices became available helping customers add a digital keepsake of their U Star Novels adventure as well.
