U Star Novels In the Media
Literary Fantasy (Literally!)

You know how they make all those children's books, where you can specify your child's name, age, favorite color, etc., and then you receive a personalized picture book? The idea has grown up, with personalized romance and erotic novels from UStar.com.
I admit, I'm skeptical of things like this, but one of my REDBOOK friends got invited to create her own novel—and of course, once she got them in, I had to read one. First, off, at $40, they're not cheap, but the novelty factor (the text is peppered with details—filled out online—of your hair color, eye color, name, birthday, favorite store, nicknames, you get the point) could be worth it for some people.
As for me, I think I'll stick to penning my own semi-graphic narratives (back in college, I actually got praise for my EXCEPTIONALLY WELL-WRITTEN bedroom scenes!). But, here's the thing—I don't really like reading or writing about sex. The actual act isn't glamorous, it can be awkward or funny or anything, but the actual act seems so intimate it's hard to put into words. At least for me.
